Plant-Based Dutch Bros Milk Options

According to Dutch Bros support, every location carries three plant-based milks: oat, almond and coconut. Since January 2025, Dutch Bros no longer charges extra for them, so choosing a non-dairy milk does not change the price of your drink.

Oat milk

Oat milk is the creamiest of the three and the closest to dairy in texture. It is the base of the Oat Milk Latte, which is already dairy-free as ordered, and it works well in hot drinks and chai.

Almond milk

Almond milk is lighter and slightly nutty. Many people pick it for iced coffee or cold brew when they want a little creaminess without a heavy drink.

Coconut milk

Coconut milk adds a subtle tropical note. It pairs nicely with chocolate, caramel and fruity flavors.

What Is Breve at Dutch Bros?

Breve means the drink is made with half-and-half instead of milk. It is richer and creamier, and several Dutch Faves use it, including the Golden Eagle. Breve contains dairy, so swap it for oat, almond or coconut milk if you want a dairy-free version.

Protein Milk at Dutch Bros

Protein milk is the one milk swap that costs extra. It is used in the protein coffee line and can be added to other drinks. Read more in our Dutch Bros protein coffee guide.

How to Order Dairy-Free at Dutch Bros

Swapping the milk is only the first step. Some sauces and toppings contain dairy too. Based on PETA’s Dutch Bros vegan guide (updated May 2026):

  • Skip the Soft Top. It is made with cow’s milk cream.
  • Watch the sauces. Caramel sauce, white chocolate sauce, pumpkin pie sauce and their sugar-free versions contain dairy.
  • Skip freezes. Freezes contain milk and cannot be made vegan.
  • Hold the whipped cream on smoothies.
  • Boba is vegan, so it is a safe add-on for Rebels, teas and sodas.

Dairy-free as ordered

  • Americano
  • Cold Brew and Nitro Cold Brew
  • Oat Milk Latte
  • Most Rebel energy drinks (the Peach Ring Rebel contains milk). See our energy drinks menu.
  • Strawberry, Mango and Green Apple smoothies without whipped cream

Dairy-free with a swap

Hot Dutch Faves such as the 9-1-1, Annihilator, Cocomo, Double Torture and Kicker can be made dairy-free by swapping the milk or breve for a plant-based milk. For the Caramelizer and Golden Eagle, also hold the caramel.

Dutch Bros notes that its stands share equipment and preparation areas, so it cannot guarantee any drink is free from allergens. If you have a severe allergy, speak to your Broista before ordering.
